Playing Catch Up

I haven't posted anything in a while, so I'm playing catch up on the last few days. For starters, my 30 day challenge ended up being more like a 15 day challenge because I have fallen off the wagon in a BIG way! I did great for 2 weeks & then no coincidence that when I stopped blogging (& holding myself accountable) I slipped. For example, yesterday was my youngest daughter's Birthday. She turned 4 & had her choice of anything she wanted for dinner. She chose pizza (go figure) so I ordered my girls pepperoni & ordered myself (my hubbs was gone on Army business & missed the birthday) a new artisan spinach & feta from Dominos...Amazing by the way, but I ate way too much. I have also eaten large, fattening breakfasts twice this week. I usually don't eat breakfast (coffee only), but we all brought in a little something in honor of Boss's Day on Monday & I took my daughter to breakfast at I Hop yesterday. I feel disgusting this week because of my poor choices & plan to turn things around starting today! I have had coffee only so far & hope to get back on track & not look back!

My 4 year old, Kacey had a great Birthday, but woke up vomiting this morning. My husband, Bill said that no one should have to wake up sick the morning following their birthday until they hit 21. Good point! I'm staying home with her today & watching her rest peacefully. She's so pitiful, hope she feels better soon!

We had a local Chamber function for work Saturday night & it was SO much fun. It was a Vegas themed event & even Bill had a good time. This was the first time he would meet most of my coworkers (including my boss) so he wasn't sure what to expect, but the drinks & conversations were flowing beautifully and the night was a hit. We have a company picnic/bonfire this Saturday for the whole family at a nearby lake. The company is providing the beer & dinner and we just get to bring ourselves and have a great time. Hope my little peanut is feeling better by then because we're all looking forward to it! What a cool company to host such a fun, laid back event!

In a nutshell, things have been good except my eating. My brother & his family just left yesterday to move (they are military too) & it was a sad day for all of us...I'm very close to my brother, his wife & kids! Other than Kacey being sick, the girls are doing great with soccer, ballet & school. Bill & I are better than ever and life couldn't be better. Wish me luck as I continue with the challenge. I think this time I will call it  "my personal best" challenge. That way I don't feel as guilty if I can't uphold all 30 days.

Goodbye y'all!

Oopsie!

Had a great weekend despite the crummy weather & so far the week is off to a good start. Friday night we hosted a "tournament" of Beer Pong (I know, how sophisticated) & had a great time. Saturday, following Mia's soccer game we had plans to meet some friends & go to a nearby pumpkin patch. However the weather ended up taking a turn for the worst immediately following the game (they won 4-1 by the way:) so we made a joint decision to spend the rainy day in - at our friends house & sipped on cocktails throughout the day while the kids enjoyed arts & crafts. It was fun & relaxing, but I screwed up royally on my 30 day challenge. In all fairness, it was day 13 so I'm blaming it on the unlucky factor. My girlfriend made some mini spice loafs with dollops of cream cheese, plus we grazed on Bbq & various random snacks throughout the day. Oopsie!

Yesterday was better. I didn't fit in a cardio workout like I had hoped, but I did eat considerably better than Saturday. I'm off to a good start for the week & hope to fit in a minimum of 3 workouts before the week end.

My quote of the day came from my 5 year old that is learning about different parts of the body in Kindergarten and fell & bumped her head. She said: Mommy, I fell & hit my brain stem. Hmmm...

Goodnight y'all!

Crazy 8's

I'm pretty sure today was one of the weirdest days ever. I can't pinpoint exactly what made it so strange, but things were just wonky all day. Besides a strange day, it also happens to be the 8th day of my 30 day challenge. I must say I did pretty good. I got my littlest munchkin a kids meal from BK & snuck a few fries (my biggest weakness) & a nibble off a chicken nugget, but other than that I was very strong willed! I had a 1/2 of a grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad for lunch & small portion of PF Changs Chinese for dinner!

Tomorrow the plan is to fit in a 30 minute cardio workout & hopefully start back with Yoga later in the week! My bestie, Tarasa is the kind of girl that can make you sick when it comes to her discipline. She looks fabulous because she has stuck with a strict workout regiment for years & almost always eats right (I think she would look fabulous regardless, but she swears it comes with hard work:) I envy her dedication & value her support! I finally feel like I may also be on the right track to a healthy lifestyle. I try not to refer to my challenge as a diet because I'm hoping to continue with the new eating habits & exercise routine from now on...not just until I obtain my goals! You know its bad when your little girl says in front of God & everybody "mommy, your belly looks kinda big...are you having a baby?" Ummm no sweetie - I'm not, but thanks for drawing attention to it!

Along those lines, my new favorite find - Bean Burrito from the diet menu at Taco Bell. It's yummy, filling, low in fat & calories and cheap! If that's your kind of thing, give it a try.

Goodnight Y'all

It's a Wrap

Happy Weekend everyone! It's Saturday night & we just got in from a dinner party with some amazing friends...the Thielmanns. I regretfully did not fit in my workout for today as promised, but I did walk a lot throughout the day with my many errands so I kinda think that counts?! Tomorrow is another day!

Mia had a soccer game today & I love the chat time I get with my friend Amy. Her daughter plays with mine & sometimes it seems there is nothing better for the soul than the relationship you have with girlfriends. They can be your voice of reason in times when you simply need a women's perspective. Don't get me wrong, the friendship I have with my hubbs - Bill is amazing, but girlfriends are different. They are more fun to shop with, they genuinely listen to you when you need a sounding board & they understand the little details that men just don't get! My thought for the day: love your girlfriends...you need them & they need you!

I am calling it a night after my several blueberry martinis and pumpkin cheesecake (low fat!), but I will write more tomorrow. Hope this weekend is a relaxing & productive one for everyone.

Goodnight Y'all!
